7 Ways to Spend Your Halloween in Oxford County

Halloween is upon us and spooky fun is around every corner! This Halloween, we've got some alternate ways to spend your day with the kids or friends rather than the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating. Read on for some of the best ways to enjoy all the Halloween fun in Oxford. 

1. A Haunted Campfire Experience

Enjoy a two-hour VIP Halloween experience. Perfect for families with teens or small groups of friends, the Snyders Haunted Campfire Experience gives your group of up to five or up to ten access to some of Snyder's best haunts plus a pre-lit campfire to enjoy. Order pizza, hot dogs, artisanal s'mores and more right to your campfire pit while you exchange ghost stories and a few laughs along the way. Experiences must be pre-booked online. Grab your ticket!

2. Trails + Treats

Enjoy some time outside and of course, some delicious treats. In Tillsonburg, consider a nice walk through Participark. Go for a swing, veg out on the grass and walk along the creek before heading downtown for a delicious baked good from Special Occassions Cakes or Nectar Coffee + Bar.  In Salford, check out Lawson Nature Tract for a lovely trail filled with scenic spots to grab a seat, bird feeders with lots of visitors and a quiet getaway. In Ingersoll, the Thomas Ingersoll Trail provides a lovely walk and when followed by a treat from The Olde Bakery Cafe or The Rose and Daffodil Bakery it makes for an awesome day together. Want something a little extra special? Grab some yummy cheese for home from The Wine Cellar and Cheese Shop. In Woodstock, walk along Pittock Lake on the Millenium Trail then pop into town for a treat from Two Guys & a Whisk, Whisk and Roll or Dee-Lights Bakery. If you really want to make the day extra Halloweeny, let your wee one pop their costume on for their hike.

3. Murder and Mayhem at the Museum

4. Halloween Fun Party

Annandale National Historic Site is inviting the kids out for a Halloween bash. Don't forget your costumes! There will be games, treats and a pumpkin for each child to bring home! Book in advance by calling 519-842-2294. Afterwards, consider enjoying some time out on the front lawn of the museum together or perhaps bring a blanket and a picnic and spend some time there.

Of course, what would Halloween be without pumpkins? Head out into the patch and pick-your-own or visit one of our awesome roadside farms to grab a pumpkin that's been pre-picked for you. From gorgeous jades and pinks to warty oranges and whites, the perfect pumpkin is out there. Have fun finding it! 

6. Fall Festival Fun

Celebrate Fall at one of Oxford County's Fall Festivals. Start with Ingersoll Cheese & Agricultural Museum's Pumpkinfest. Visit Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre for their first ever Fall Fest. Head to McCully's Hill Farm Harvest Fest for a full day of fun with family or friends. 

7. Find a New Fall Hobby at the Garden

Fall in love with a new crafty hobby at the Garden in Harrington this Fall. From Saturdays in The Garden, fall themed family craft workshops, and adult wreath making workshops to Flower Hour and Thanksgiving at The Garden, this is the spot to celebrate fall in style.
