3 Routes to Satisfy Your Fall Colour Craving

Oxford County is uniquely located in the transition zone between the Carolinian Life Zone and the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence forest regions.  This means that a lot of our beautiful lush greenery changes colour through the fall and eventually sheds its leaves until new growth in the spring.

Catch the Fall Colours on our Back Roads

It’s time to embrace the fall weather, throw on your favourite sweater and take some time to soak up the fall colours and flavours of Oxford County. The following routes are curated to lead you down beautiful roads with bright foliage and ensure fun is had in all corners of Oxford County.

Family Fun on the Farm

Starting point: Beantown Coffee Co., Woodstock
Drive time: 1 hour 15 minutes

Explore the northeast end of Oxford County on this driving route.  Start your morning with a cuppa local joe from Beantown Coffee before heading out to the Woodstock Farmers Market (Saturdays only). 

Next, head out to hike the trails at Vansittart Woods or learn about sustainable farming at Greener Pastures Eco Farm where pasture-raised rotation farming is the name of the game. Consider an on-farm picnic with local eats like their mini-charcuterie board or tortilla basket.

Finally, wrap up your day with a haunted campfire at Fear Farm. This cozy experience allows you to have your own personal campfire site for just your crew and access to Snyder's amazingly spooky haunts.

Pre-order gourmet marshmallow s’more kits, hot dogs and freshly baked ‘za then kick back with a cold beer, wine, cooler or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.  

Sweets and Treats 

Starting point: The Olde Bakery Café, Ingersoll
Drive time: 1 hour 25 minutes

Get that sweet tooth fix!  Explore the northwest end of Oxford County on this peaceful driving route.  Put some pep in your step with a not-too-sweet creamy cajetta latte at the Olde Bakery Café.  Next, check out a small-town butcher in Embro at Miedema's Meat Market.

Explore wilderness as you walk through the trails at Wildwood Conservation Area to chill out a bit and take in even more beautiful autumn colours. Finally, don’t forget to stop at McCully’s Hill Farm for local honey, maple products, a pumpkin and more!

 Fall Fun North of the 401

Starting Point: Kintore Coffee, Kintore
Drive Time: 41 mins

Get on our back roads with a lovely driving route that ends in a picnic! Start your morning by grabbing a coffee from Kintore Coffee. We definitely recommend their cold brew shandy if the day is sunny and warm! Next, head out to Kintore Custom Hardwoods to shop a selection of beautiful, handcrafted furniture, charcuterie boards and kiln-dried lumber. From there you’ll head to Embro Pond Conservation Area for a short hike on easy terrain to really take in some of the season’s best colours.

Just a short drive away, you can stock up on local produce and fall pumpkins at Fleming’s Farm before heading into Thamesford’s well-known Turner’s Farm Market. Be sure to grab some picnic goodies to end your day! Finally, head to the lawn at Beachville Museum for a lovely spread on the grass.
